Mentoring will guide and steer you around the pitfalls. Mentoring will educate you about the industry that you’re involved in.
Mentoring will guide you with time management and point you in the right direction to get your questions answered.
Can all mentors do this?
Any mentor worth their salt should be able to do this. Of course each mentor has their own unique style and thier own strengths and weaknesses.
How can you get around this?
What a good question! The only way around this is if you have a group of mentors that you can consult on the topic that you are interested in.
Some examples of this could be if you wanted to know about your company’s pay plan, then an expert mentor who would specialize in giving you the information that you requested would be available to you.
If you didn’t understand your company’s policy and procedures there would be a an expert mentor to help you with this.
If you didn’t have the confidence to make calls about your opportunity then there would be training, mentoring and practise to acquire these skills.
If you found it difficult to find clients then there would be a group of people you could consult about this.
What I am really talking about is a mentoring system. A non territorial mentoring system that is not worried about who’s team you are in.
No the mentoring system will ensure that you receive the advice , assistance and knowledge you need regardless of what company or team you are in.
