At least it is your own choice. Not what somebody else has decided for you.
I heard a great story about some Mexican circus fleas. These fleas live in a shoe box with a lid on it. They are trained to jump. Every time they jump they hit the lid of the shoe box. Of course being the intelligent insect that they are they have learnt to time their jumps so they don’t hit the lid any more. In fact they have so conditioned themselves that they only spring to the level of the shoe box and narrowly miss hitting the lid of the box. Very clever indeed.
Except of course when the lid is removed. You see they still keep jumping at the same height. just underneath the rim of the box.
This means they only know the world within the confines of that shoe box. They have limited their possibilities to the safety of that shoe box.
This is exactly what you are told to do when somebody says shrink your dreams.
You are liming your opportunities to within the confines of that shoe box that you have built around your self. What’s more you create the mindset that becomes comfortable within that shoe box and that defines who you are?
Break free and jump as high as you can to explore the world. Dream as big as you like and allow yourself the freedom to live your dreams.
