So you know about Tom Big Al Schrieter and Michael Dlouhy’s colour training.

You know that people are made up of  various personality traits and that they have one major dominant one.

You are on the phone talking to a client and you work out that they are a yellow personality. You know they are all about team work and caring for people.

So how can this help you now?

Well the first thing you can do is to let them know you have worked out their main personality quality. This creates surprise and curiosity within your client. It also opens a common point of discussion. You are also establishing your level of credibility. Suddenly you position yourself as an authority on communication.

Ok great now what!

Please remember here this is only a guide, don’t get sucked into using a script. Scripts don’t work! One script does not fit all. If you use a script you wont even be able to work out the personality of  the person. You will be to interested in making sure you follow the script. This means you don’t really hear what the client is saying. Your client will know that you have an agenda.

Yellow Personalities love to belong to a family.

This is where you can produce your story of how you joined your company and you were made to feel like a part of the family.  The story will very according to your experiences.

Tell them about your mentoring system.  Tell them when you are contacted by somebody over the phone, that person becomes your mentor. The mentor is ready to coach them for as long as they want. Tell them this is the way the system works and everybody gets trained to be a mentor.

Tell them about your free personal development program to help everybody grow in their life and business.

Dont talk too much

Stop and listen with your  heart so you know what to say next.  Find out about your client and point them in the right direction as they voice their needs.

Don’t overwhelm them

Provide one or two resources or points that will help your client move forward.

Schedule a further appointment 

Make it clear that you are there to help them on their journey and prove it by scheduling a regular coaching call.

This begins your journey of building a relationship to success with your client.

 

If your system does not have the above training, it is time to seek out a system that does.

How can knowing this stuff help us in our lives and business? Well if you can communicate on a level, or language if you like to the dominant color of a person’s persoanlity, then communicating just go a whole lot easier.

Talk to a green about facts and figures and you will have them salivating and wanting to know more.

Talk to a yellow about being part of a team and working together to achieve a goal that will benefit everybody and they will be your friend for life.

Talk to a blue about having fun and having a party as they cruise the world and they will get their dancing shoes on.

Talk to a red about how they can organise and make sure everything is ship shape for the cruise and they will put on their captain’s hat.

 

Speaking their language

Suddenly you are not speaking a foreign language you are communicating to each person according to a language they understand.
When you speak their language everything makes sense. This will ensure you have a brilliant conversation. You will probably make a friend for life.

Knowing why people do what they do

The brilliant part of this is that when you have a yellow in your team that is working around the clock for everybody else. All you have to do is explain how important it is to put yourself first. The only way you can really help everybody is to make sure you a well looked after first. They will be no good to anybody if they let their health suffer whilst caring for everybody else.

To take it even further if a blue is always talking and not really giving people a chance to talk, then a kindly reminder of how they are not really learning anything about their clients or friends because they are not letting them talk should jolt them into keeping quiet for a while.

Greens need to stop analysing and take action because procrastination is their worst enemy.

Reds need to study the colors training  so they can get  in touch with all of the other personalities.

Learning about yourself

Once you know about your own dominant color, you begin to understand yourself better. The first thing you have to do is determine what your dominant trait is. This is not always straight forward as people can exhibit all four personality traits in varying degrees.

I’ll give you an example of what I am talking about. I have known that  I am a green personality for a long time. Just recently I discovered why I find it difficult to reach out and ask for help. As a green personality you become the go to guy. All difficult problems or situations are usually passed on to a green to figure out. So here is what happens, the greens feel that the problems must be solved by them. When the problem is too difficult instead of asking for help the greens will beat themselves up trying to find the answer all by themselves.  This can lead to frustration and a feeling that if you cant do it then nobody can. Here lies the problem because instead of reaching out and asking for help we tend to withdraw and feel inadequate.

Once you are armed with this information of course you begin to realise that it is okay to ask for help. This makes it so much easier.
